This week the Art Basel Miami Beach fair starts: it’s one of the major events in the contemporary art world. Art Basel Miami Beach is back, and bigger than ever. There are lots of news, new show design and new energy for this 16th edition! The fair opens to the public on Dec. 7 and it is going to look very different from the previous one. As referred to above, there is an entirely new show design: the director of the Americas for Art Basel, Noah Horowitz, said that “it’s the biggest change the show has seen in 10 years”. Thanks to the continuing renovation of the gigantic midcentury Miami Beach Convention Center.
More than 250 galleries representing 32 countries, artist talks, gallerist talks, studio visits, a film series (including a new documentary about Jean-Michel Basquiat’s teenage years) and outstanding attractions, all this is planned for the duration of four days.
“In our American show, leading galleries from North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia and Africa show significant work from the masters of Modern and contemporary art, as well the new generation of emerging stars. Paintings, sculptures, installations, photographs, films, and editioned works of the highest quality are on display in the main exhibition hall. Ambitious large‐scale artworks, films and performances become part of the city’s outdoor landscape at nearby Collins Park and SoundScape Park”. (Art Basel Official©)
